Silicone fingers were designed to grasp irregularly shaped objects and were produced from a food-compatible material.
The accordion-like structure of the silicone fingers allows them to swell and fill gaps when pressure is applied, closing the silicone fingers. The closed fingers enable the grasping of irregularly shaped objects.
By creating a vacuum, the closed fingers open, releasing the object. Since silicone material is food-compatible, many consumed foods can be grasped with these fingers.
